Dental Veneers
You can choose clothes that draw attention away from flaws in your figure and you can cover bad skin with foundation, but you can’t hide bad teeth. The only way to hide your teeth is not to smile…that's why veneers were invented.
Veneers, which are simply porcelain façades that are bonded onto your teeth, can change the color, shape and structure of your teeth. Veneers can fill in gaps, remedy crowding, and treat cracks, chips and splits. They can also be used to lengthen teeth for a more youthful smile, to create the illusion of fuller lips, or to improve the shape of your smile altogether.
Veneers can also restore chipped or broken teeth and give you back a natural, beautiful smile. Of cosmetic veneers Dr Hornbrook stated, "We call it instant orthodontics; we can straighten severely crooked teeth in two weeks rather than two years.".
This is not a process that is taught in dental school, so the doctors at Mortenson Family Dental have all undergone extensive training to learn the best and most advanced proven techniques. They have traveled to both New York City and San Francisco to learn from the best.
The process of dental veneers is quick and painless. Once in the chair, a local anesthetic is administered. After numbing the gums, the doctor uses a diamond bur to safely remove anywhere from 0.5 mm to 1.5 mm from the surface of the teeth being treated. This filing process allows the dentist to make room for the veneers to ensure they don't look bulky.
Next, the teeth are prepared and a model is sent to the lab to make your beautiful new teeth. You will leave that day with temporary veneers while your permanent veneers are made. Many patients notice an improvement in their appearance right away with just the temporary veneers.
Approximately two weeks later, in just a quick visit, your veneers are sealed. Our doctors will spend a great deal of time with you to ensure you are perfectly delighted with your new smile.
